First-generation college students face unique challenges. Understanding that, the University of Michigan wanted to increase its support for “first-gens” to increase their educational success. In order to better communicate the services and resources available on campus, the first-gen team wanted to develop an awareness campaign that would allow for first-gens to self-identify and connect with the larger community of first-gens at U-M. The awareness campaign also encouraged students to visit the website and find helpful resources.
2016 CASE Circle of Excellence Bronze Award Winner!
MC was tasked with creating a three-month-long awareness campaign, which ran in the spring of 2016. As part of that campaign, MC designed and developed a website, firstgen.studentlife.umich.edu, and ads for the Michigan Daily and University Record. To reach students directly, MC also created an extensive Snapchat campaign. Additionally, we produced a complete set of branded collateral, including bookmarks, posters, t-shirts, lapel pins, laptop stickers, table tent cards, handouts, and flyers.
Much of our event’s success had to do with Michigan Creative’s consistently great work. They were always positive and helpful and willing to do whatever it took to simultaneously make a deadline and an exceptional product.
