The University of Michigan was one of the first universities to have a presence at South by Southwest (SXSW), the annual festival of film, music, and interactive media held every March in Austin, Texas. In order to promote U-M to the predominantly “techie” audience, an interactive and engaging presentation needed to be created.
Michigan Creative developed an “iPad wall,” featuring an individual and dedicated iPad tablet for each of U-M’s 19 schools and colleges. Content was strategically curated to showcase areas of interest to different audiences constituencies, including information about degree programs, star faculty, famous alumni, student life, and more. A unique set of images was designed for each school and college and loaded onto each iPad. After SXSW ended, the display was moved to the Student Activities Building on the U-M campus, where it’s used by prospective students and their families who are visiting campus.
