Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, and U-M has been working diligently to reach the Spanish-speaking audience constituency. The first iteration of the “En Español” website, launched in 2012, was part of an overarching Hispanic communications vision for the University. The site has helped raise awareness and enhance the reputation of U-M as a leader in research, teaching, and learning. It also serves as a helpful portal for information about life at U-M for both current and prospective Spanish-speaking students and their families.
In 2016, MC was asked to redesign the website in order to keep it fresh and engaging and to provide added functionality. The new site is responsive, enabling users on mobile devices to access critical content. The updated look and feel is sleek and minimalist, allowing the focus to be on the content. And a new interactive map details U-M projects by country, displaying projects on mouseover and offering additional information with one click.
