Challenge
Shared Services comprises employees from all over the UM-Ann Arbor campus. The department moved to a new building off-campus in summer 2014. To help create a unified atmosphere, Shared Services wanted to leverage U-M themes and develop art and decor for the new building, which accommodates about 300 staffers.

Solution
The Shared Services space includes graphics, photos, “concept walls,” signage, and even conference room names to ensure a unified and compelling U-M “vibe.” Images corresponded to the brand pillars of public ethos; history, tradition, and culture; and academic prestige. The physical setting has enhanced employees’ feeling of community and being part of the U-M even though the building itself is off-campus.
